Although he's completely fluent on keyboards and could simply take the MIDI route into his computer for composition, the music here is entirely written in MIDI software as plain notation. As a result, browsers may catch a lack of expression in this music produced with NO traditional electronic or other musical instrument at all! DOB- 9th Dec 1941, in Cochin (Kochi). Attended 9 schools in Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi and Pune to complete class 10. Studied Classical Piano in school. Discovered Jazz in Med School JIPMER (Pondicherry) from the loudest/clearest radio program Joined Army Medical Corps in 1969. Posted to Nagaland. Applied my music knowledge to spend tons of free time trying to learn orchestration by trial and error with the 4 Kumaon battalion's 5 piece band. (the regimental doctor controls the band platoon of about 20 people (the name changes to medical platoon in war time and musicians become casualty stretcher bearers). Took part in Bangaladesh Liberation war. Went upto Sylhet and Chittagong. Didn't have a bath for 21 days! ( getting shot in one's ass with ones pants down is no way to die.) Joined Central Govt Health Service in 1974, and have been leading a 'retired life style' even since. ...and have been rotting academically ever since... Adopted daughters - Paru and Milla. While the former is of Nepali origin, the latter is a mix...mix of a male father and a female mother ;-). One daughter in class 8 and the other a national Junior Judo Champ and Delhi Boxing Champ(bantam). ...i am well protected you'll see.  And single. Had the privilege of playing with Sunil Joseph, Gautam Ghosh, Rahul Ram, KJ Singh, Gopal. the compositions of Goutam Ghosh for a concert in Alliance Francaise...circa 1984... and, was known for not knowing when to stop. I also composed a 10 second piece for the war scene in Sandeep Kanjilal's Rock opera 'Operama' (a good pop takeoff on the Ramayana). MY FAVOURITE MUSICIANS ON THE INDIAN SCENE ARE RAHUL RAM AND GOUTAM GHOSH. RAHUL RAM MAKES THE WAVES...FOR INDIAN OCEAN WHILE GOUTAM IS A DRIFTWOOD IN THE SEA OF SOUNDS... AMONG THE GREATS I WOULD PUT SALIL CHOWDHARY ON THE TOP. ANOTHER WHO GOES NECK TO NECK IS CHITALKAR RAMACHANDRA...(who can forget 'tum kya janoom- tumari yaad mein- hum kitna roye'...who can remember all the surprises that one meets at every turn of phrase in the tune? not to forget the melody taking off on an off-beat to give a feel of doubling the beat...stroke of sheer genius!) From '97 I have been re-orchestrating hindi film songs and making them into midi files on the computer, using a staff notation 'composer' software ~ entering the notes one by one. Alongwith the files on this CD, you will also find some of my hindi midi files in the free CDs of PC Quest from the1987 summer issue onwards.
