Dr. Raghuthaman OpehBack (?) to Notation .
Attended 9 schools in Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi and Pune to complete class 10. Studied Classical Piano in school. Discovered Jazz in Med School JIPMER (Pondicherry) from the loudest/clearest radio program Joined Army Medical Corps in 1969. Posted to Nagaland. Applied my music knowledge to spend tons of free time trying to learn orchestration by trial and error with the 4 Kumaon battalion's 5 piece band. (the regimental doctor controls the band platoon of about 20 people (the name changes to medical platoon in war time and musicians become casualty stretcher bearers).Took part in Bangaladesh Liberation war. Went upto Sylhet and Chittagong. Didn't have a bath for 21 days! ( getting shot in one's ass with ones pants down is no way to die.) ...and have been rotting academically ever since... Adopted daughters - Paru and Milla. While the former is of Nepali origin, the latter is a mix...mix of a male father and a female mother ;-). One daughter in class 8 and the other a national Junior Judo Champ and Delhi Boxing Champ(bantam). ...i am well protected you'll see. And single. Had the privilege of playing with Sunil Joseph, Gautam Ghosh, Rahul Ram, KJ Singh, Gopal. the compositions of Goutam Ghosh for a concert in Alliance Francaise...circa 1984... and, was known for not knowing when to stop. I also composed a 10 second piece for the war scene in Sandeep Kanjilal's Rock opera 'Operama' (a good pop takeoff on the Ramayana). MY FAVOURITE MUSICIANS ON THE INDIAN SCENE ARE RAHUL RAM AND GOUTAM GHOSH.
